Hamilton Calls For Wing Play For Eagles

Nigeria’s Chief coach, Paul Hamilton has advised the technical crew of the team to ponder on wing play as the country continues the search for ticket of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.
The veteran coach, who described the recent World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Tunisia in Rades as too tight and tactical believed a typical fast Nigerian wingers could have won the game for the Super Eagles.
“We played with caution and that was good enough” said Hamilton on a Lagos radio station. “In the setting we were, it was better to hold the game than to lose it. Occasionally, we could have taken the opponents by surprise with fast breaks from the flanks if we had wingers and one of those plays could have resulted in a goal,” he said.
On Super Eagles’ chances, Hamilton said caution should be the watchword.
“We were confident of going to Germany 2006 but Angola came to Kano and upset our plans. In this case, all hands must be on deck. The government, sports officials, coaches, players and even the media have different roles to play.”
He passed a vote of confidence on Shaibu Amodu saying the coach has all it takes to lead Nigeria to the World Cup.
“We are talking of a man who has been in and out of the national team on about four or five occasions so he’s quite experienced for the job.”
