NBTE approves new courses for Ibadan Poly

THE NATIONAL Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved the take-off of new engineering programmes for The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

The Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Reverend Taiwo Oyedemi, said this at the first faculty alumni summit held on Saturday to raise N500 million for the take-off of the proposed courses.

The proposed courses, according to the Dean, are Mechatronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Foundry Engineering and Agricultural Engineering.

He said public support would be needed to complement the efforts of the state government to boost production of manpower in technology for the country.

“The Faculty of Engineering of the Polytechnic, Ibadan, commenced operations in 1972 and within this period, it has witnessed a commendable development and has contributed immensely to the development of manpower in the country,” he said.

The Polytechnic, Ibadan, is one of the four institutions selected by the NBTE to pioneer the new courses in the country.
