Govt revokes Oshiomhole, deputy’s C of Os

IN line with its resolve to demolish any building illegally erected on government acquired land, Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, on Tuesday revoked the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the state land he bought during the administration of Chief Lucky Igbinedion.

Also revoked was the C of O of the Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, who also acquired land in the same area at the same time.

The land, which is located in a choice area in the state, was acquired by the state government from the Anglican Girls Grammar School.

The Commissioner for Environment and Public Utilities, Honourable Clem Agba, who disclosed this at a press briefing to herald the World Environment Day, said the present administration was committed to removing all illegal structures in the state and plant trees where necessary.

According to him, “we want to clear the flooding in the roads first before planting trees. The beautification committee would soon start work.”

He said the ministry would use the world environment day to launch the new environment deal with the people of the state by introducing a new logo, enforcing the use of waste baskets in vehicles and sponsoring school debates to improve habit change.
