Vieira Wants Scudetto At San Siro
03.05.2008
PATRICK Vieira has revealed that this weekend he hopes to make it a hat-trick of career championships that he has won on the grounds of a bitter rival.
This Sunday, Inter play Milan in the derby at San Siro, knowing that win, coupled with a Roma slip-up will be enough to secure the Scudetto.
During his days at Arsenal, Vieira twice won the Premiership at the ground of a rival, achieving this at Manchester United’s Old Trafford in 2002, and at Spurs’ White Hart Lane two years later.
“With Arsenal, I won the championship at the home of Tottenham, and at the home of Manchester United. Now, I will play at Milan the home of both Inter and Milan,” said Vieira.
“Sunday will be something special. These are the games for which I live for.”
Vieira had a short spell at Milan before joining Arsenal in 1996.
The Frenchman was asked whether the Rossoneri have snubbed Serie A in recent years, in favour of the Champions League.
“Certain choices, perhaps, are natural when you find yourselves 20 points behind the leaders,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Since signing for Inter in 2006 from Juventus, Vieira has been plagued by injury problems. “It was just bad luck, “he insisted. “It happened by chance. In many years at Arsenal I never had any problems.”
