Ogunjobi Raises Hope On Abuja Sub-seat

CHAIRMAN of the Abuja Sub-seat of the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup Local Organizing Committee, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has said on Friday in Abuja that he is hopeful that inspectors from world football–governing body, FIFA will even be more impressed when they arrive the country this month.

“We are stepping up our preparations with a lot of gusto. Even though the FIFA inspectors gave Abuja City pass mark during their first inspection in February, we are not resting on our oars”, said the former international defender who is also the Chairman of the NFA’s technical committee.

During an inspection of the facilities within the Federal Capital Territory ahead of FIFA’s second inspection this week, the former NFA scribe also disclosed that he has been making consultations with various stakeholders and will probably unveil the character of the Sub-seat’s team within the next one week.

“We have been making wide consultations and talking to those who matter. Our committee is taking shape and I can tell you that we will most likely reveal the composition next week.”

FIFA’s inspectors, led by Vice President Jack Warner are expected in the country by the middle of this month for a second round of inspection of facilities with which Nigeria will be hosting the kindergarten world championship in 17 months’ time.

Abuja, Lagos, Bauchi, Enugu, Calabar, Kaduna, Kano, Ijebu-Ode and Warri are the nine cities in the frame for the slots of six.
