US donates N120m equipment to Warri hospital

Medical equipment worth over N120 million have been donated to the management of Central Hospital , Warri by a United States of America-based Itsekiri organisation, Ugbajo Itsekiri Incorporated, USA .

The body also showered praises on the management and staff of the hospital for their dedication to duty in the face of inadequate medical facilities.

Retired university don and Patron of the organisation, Professor Oritsegbemi Omatete, gave the commendation and presented the medical equipment to the management of the hospital through the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Otumara, during a brief ceremony at the hospital premises in Warri.

Among the items donated were Penlon Ventilators (4), Pulse Oximeters and Noninvasive Blood Pressure Monitors, Laryngoscopes and Vital Signs Monitors, cartons of clutches and many other important equipment.

The medical equipment which was in custody of Chief Willy Edema-Ofoni arrived Nigeria in twenty-three boxes that was presented to the commissioner.

Professor Omatete said the spirit to donate the items resulted from the experience of suffering mothers witnessed at the University College Hospital (UCH) where they where seen fetching water and taking same to the second floor of the hospital sometimes ago.

He said the items cost the Ugbajo Itsekiri Incorporated, a body made up of several Itsekiri socio-cultural cum political groups in the United States of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK), over N120m and was seen as part of their contributions to the health care system of the Delta State government.
