Ex-US ambassador, others appointed into Abti-university board

FORMER US Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. John Campbell; a former British diplomat, Sir Marrack Goulding and two other Nigerians, Alhaji Tajudeen Dantata and Professor Patrick Utomi, have joined the board of directors of Abti-American University of Nigeria, Yola, Adamawa State.

A statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs of the university, Alhaji Abubakar Tahir, said the board chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Joda, expressed delight with acceptance by the people to serve on board of the university.

“We are glad to receive four distinguished global citizens into the AUNBoard. Each one of them brings outstanding golden traits to the board of trustees, their experiences in industry, diplomacy and the academia are crucial to the next phase of the university’s development,” he said.

The president of the university, Mr. Michael Smith, described the new members of the board as “another land-mark achievement in the institutions history,” adding that “their impressive backgrounds and skills will add to the university’s momentum and help guide the current effort to build a first-rate university in the country.”

Also said to have accepted to be on the board of trustees last October was the reknown South African cleric, Bishop Desmond Tutu.
