Consitution review: National Assembly will collaborate with FG panel - Mark

Taiwo Adisa, Abuja - 02.05.2008

The President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, has said that the National Assembly would collaborate with interest groups, including the Justice Muhammed Uawis-led Electoral Reform Committee set up by the Federal Government in the process of amending the 1999 Constitution.

Senator Mark, who stated this in Abuja when he hosted the Justice Uwais-led committee, said the National Assembly would accommodate all interests and views in amending the constitution.

He said there was the need to accommodate all stakeholders to ensure that all grey areas in the constitution were adequately addressed.

He also said the National Assembly would avoid controversies that dogged the last exercise in the current exercise, while it would make the constitution to reflect the aspirations of Nigerians.
