Customs boss shot by robbers

A serving Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Alhaji Oba Amasa, was Saturday evening shot in his resident at Adabata area of Ilorin by armed robbers.

Alhaji Amasa who arrived Ilorin on Friday evening to spend the weekend with his family was attacked and shot on the chest and neck by three gun men suspected to be armed robbers.

The robbers, according to a family member of the victim who pleaded anonymity, invaded the residence in Adabata area of Ilorin around 8:00pm and immediately opened fire on the customs chief.

The Assistant Comptroller General who was in a pool of his blood was immediately rushed to the emergency unit of the university of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relation Officer of Kwara State Police Command, ASP Tunde Mohammed said three hoodlums invaded the residence of the customs officer and shot him.

“No arrest has been made but an expended cartridge was recovered from the scene of the attack,” he said.
