Minister predicts victory for Nyako

02.03.2008

DR. Idi Hong, the Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, has said that Nyako's performance during the last eight months would encourage the people of Adamawa to re elect him as governor.

The court of Appeal in Jos last week upheld the decision of the Adamawa Election Tribunal which nullified Nyako's election as governor of the state. Hong told Newsmen today in Yola that Nyako's performance within the period superceded the eight-year tenure of former Gov. Boni Haruna.

``The eight-month success is better than eight years wasted by the previous regime and that will make our people re-elect Nyako,'' he said.

Hong debunked the claims from some quarters that there was a sharp division among PDP chieftains and supporters in the state. ``The party is a productive one and everyone will want to be part of it, though there is no where in the world where human arrangement is 100 per cent perfect.

``I know that some people have not got what they wanted and we are going to sit down, discuss and reconcile among ourselves. ``I equally know that Col. Muhammadu Marwa, Sen. Aliyu Gerei and Pascal Bafyau met with Nyako in Abuja after the verdict,'' he said.

He said, ``those said to have been aggrieved are still card carrying members of the PDP and not card carrying members of another party , therefore we are still together.
