N/A To Pass 2008 Budget On Tuesday

The National Assembly is now set to pass the 2008 budget, following the resolution of grey areas in the budget by the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The House Committee Chairman on Media and Public Matters, Hon. Ezeuche Ubani, made this known in Abuja on Friday during a press briefing.

Ubani said all the processes on the budget passage had been concluded, disclosing that both the Senate and the House had agreed on issues, which hitherto was delaying the passage.

He said if things went well, both chambers of the National Assembly would pass the budget next Tuesday.

President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had presented the N2.224 trillion budget to a joint sitting of the National Assembly on November 8, 2007, setting the bench mark price of crude oil at $55.8.

Attempts by both chambers of the National Assembly to pass the budget within 2007 fiscal year had failed following complaints by members that the Appropriation Committees of both the Senate and the House were not receiving necessary information from the executive arm of government.
