ABIA State government in collaboration with World Bank and African Development Bank (ADB) have inaugurated a multi-million naira new complex, medical equipment, functional vehicles and ambulances at Amachara General Hospital, Umuahia.

Speaking at the inauguration of the projects in Umuahia, Governor Theodore Orji restated his administration’s readiness to partner with donor agencies and all stakeholders, which activities will develop the state, adding that the projects were a counterpart initiave between the government and the donor agencies.

The governor, who explained that the projects were realised because of the prompt release of N100 million as the counterpart contribution of the state government, added that the government was committed to providing qualitative health care to the people of the state.

The governor said his administration would continue to fulfill all its obligations so that it would continue to benefit from the projects, particularly with the success recorded by the Abia State Health System Development Project II.

He, therefore, charged all agencies and institutions that will take delivery of the vehicles and equipment to utilise them for the purpose they are meant for.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sam Ahaiwe, commended the governor for repositioning the health sector in the state and thanked the health system development Project II for the strides it has taken to improve the health institutions.
