Obasanjo arrives from Libya, wishes Nigeria well at 48

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday returned from his trip to Tripoli in Libya, wishing the country well as it celebrates 48th independence anniversary.

Obasanjo, who arrived the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport at about 4.40 p.m aboard a Libyan aircraft, marked TZ-TAC, which flew him out of the country a day earlier, said he wished Nigeria luck.

“Libya was fine, it was nice travelling there to see my friend, Ghadaffi. l wish Nigeria good luck on its 48th independence anniversary,” he said.
The former president said “Barka da Sallah to you all. I wish Nigeria good luck on its 48th years of independence.”

He refused to respond to questions from journalists at the airports as he dashed into his car, ordering the door closed. The Special Assistant to the former president, Doyin Okupe, in a chat with journalists, said Libya was “a beautiful country,” adding that “Gaddaffi waited patiently for Obasanjo before breaking his fast.”

He said Nigeria had not done too well in its 48 years of nationhood, blaming the failure of the country on absence of leaders with lofty vision. “ Nigeria has not done so well in these years, I think we could do better if only we had leaders with vision,” he said.
