Blood oath scandal: We ‘ll investigate the matter - Ogun Speaker

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Tunji Egbetokun, on Tuesday, said that the House would commence full investigation into allegation of oath-taking by a member of the House, Honourable Wale Alausa, at a shrine in Ijebu-Igbo.

He also said that 80 per cent of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state are spiritualists. He stated this, following a newspaper publication, on Monday, while addressing journalists after a news conference held in Alausa, Lagos by one of the G15 lawmakers opposed to Governor Gbenga Daniel.

He explained that the House would brief the leadership of the party at the national level on the development, saying that the allegation had not brought any ridicule to the House.

Egbetokun said: “We have not seen it as bringing ridicule to the Assembly because the issue is more political than governance and we are to legislate. we will investigate and take proper action.”

The Speaker described the publication as unfortunate, admitting that he took a similar oath at the governor’s private residence in Sagamu but contended that he was not naked like Honourable Alausa did.

“I took such an oath right in the governor’s private residence in Sagamu in the presence of some former public office holders in the state, though I was not naked,” he said.
