Oyinlola, US governor to partner on development

THE Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and his counterpart in Pennsylvania, United States, Mr Edward Rendell, have agreed to work together with a view to ensuring the development of the states.

Oyinlola and Rendell took the decision, on Tuesday, at a meeting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where they expressed their readiness for economic cooperation between the two states.

Rendell, a former national chairman of the Democrat Party and the current chairman of Association of Governors in the US, said going by what he had heard, Osun State had potentials that could be explored for the benefit of the two states.

He commended Oyinlola for his zeal at transforming the state. Prince Oyinlola expressed the optimism that partnering with a state with a developed economy such as Pennsylvania, would boost the economy of Osun State and uplift the standard of living of the people.

He said steps towards actualizing the partnership would have been taken by the time an American trade delegation visited the state by the end of the year.

According to the governor, the partnership with the US state was expected to boost investment in agriculture, education, health, infrastructural development, tourism, mining, among others.
