Kogi lawmakers move against Speaker

THE fate of the speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Clarence Olafemi, now hangs in the balance, following a purported move by the members of the House to remove him from office.

The Nigerian Tribune investigation revealed that the Speaker may only be buying time as his removal had been perfected by the power brokers in the state as more than the required two-thirds majority of the members of the House had been raised to ease the Speaker out of office.

It was gathered that the members frowned at what they described as high handedness as the major reasons for the sack of the former acting governor of the state.

While the House members were using high handedness as the yard- stick for his removal, it was reliably gathered that his removal may not be unconnected with his plans to contest the 2012 governorship election.

It was also gathered that his popularity which has soared up after his brief stay in office as the acting governor of the state, was becoming a threat to his opponents.
