Robbers invade Osoba’s residence in Abeokuta

Abeokuta residence of the former governor of Ogun State,Chief Olusegun Osoba, and held all security agents on duty hostage for close to two hours.

The men of the underworld were said to have arrived the Ibara Government Reservation Area home of Chief Osoba around 10.30am on Saturday ,in a Mercedes Benz green colour ,and immediately pounced on the private security officer on duty, Mr Adegoke Bamidele, asking after one, Ade,who they said was the owner of the house.

According to the security officer who was on duty , with a civil defence female cop and a policeman in mufti,they were all ordered by the robbers to lie face down, threatening to shoot anyone who tried to escape, and they collected all their valuables, including handsets and money.

The robbers also asked the personal staff of Chief Osoba if there was any policeman among them.

They were locked up in the kitchen of one of the boys' quarters before the hoodlums finally left the house.

While narrating their ordeal to the Sunday Tribune, the Seurity Officer said:"When they came, three of them got down from the car and started shouting where is the owner of the house? Where is the car? Where is the money?

"They were initially shocked when I told them that the house belonged to Chief Osoba, but they began shouting that they were assassins and that they were prepared to kill anybody. They then asked us to lie down".

He continued: "As soon as they returned from the boys' quarters, they collected our phones, the half salary that I just received yesterday [Friday], all money they found in our pockets and took us to the kitchen where they locked us up."

He said that the robbers took virtually all the keys away but some members of the Jehovah Witnesses Church who came around in their usual manner to preach were the one who released them.

According to the securityman , when the Jehovah Witness people came they met a kid at the gate of the house, who led them to where they were locked up.

Sunday Tribune learnt that no body was hurt by the armed robbers and that the incident had since been reported at the Ibara Police Station.
