Two die in Iyesi communal clash

People suspected to be working for some land speculators from a neighbouring community have killed two persons in Iyesi community of Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The incident, which occurred on 28April 2008, led to the death of the two , Paul Agosu and Yedenu Godon Agosu.

The duo were matcheted to death by some thugs who allegedly invaded Iyesi town around 12noon on the said day.

Already,. the Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro has directed the Lagos State Police Command to conduct a thorough investigation into the killings.

In a petition written to the IG by the Iyesi community through their lawyer, Mr. Rickey Tarfa(SAN), fifteen persons were named as the brain behind the siege on the community.

The petitioners expressed their displeasure at the conducts of both the local police station in Marogbo and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, which they claimed was lackadaisical in that they have not done anything to arrest the suspects despite lodging complaints with the police on the day of the bloody incident.

‘’They usually come with hoodlums and hold our clients communities hostage and challenge them to dare come out and they have not stopped inflicting injuries on us on daily basis’’, the petitioners averred.

Several people in Gbenopo communities, which apart from Iyesi comprises of Agunmo, Zunve, Sano, Samoseje and Samowhegbo have fled their homes following continuous threat of further bloody attack by the land speculators..

Some of the names forwarded to the IG in connection with the killings included; Ayo Raji, Bilau Mojeed, Felix Adeokun, Motiu Ashade, Nurudeen Ashade and Apostle Ajayi Agbala.
