Abducted man’s wife pleads

A middle-age woman, Josephine Scerri has appealed to the kidnappers of her husband and his colleague about 22 days ago somewhere in PortHaecourt, Rivers State to release them.

She also pleaded with the Federal and Rivers State Governments to help secure their release because, according to her, they were executing a legitimate assignment when they were kidnapped.

George Scerri, a Maltese and Mohamed Asif, a Pakistani, are staffers of Lonestar Drilling Nigeria Limited, Port Harcourt and were kidnapped when they were moving between the camp site and the work site of the company on May 8, this year.

The wife of Scerri, Josephine who hails from Aragboruku in Ughelli Local Government Area of Delta State told newsmen in Warri, Delta State last weekend that nothing had been heard from the Rivers State Government since the incident despite letters written to solicit for her husband’s release.

She said the last time she got in touch with her husband was on Monday but that he was not allowed to discuss with him by her abductors, saying "please help impress it on the Federal and Rivers State Governments the need to save my husband and his colleague from the kidnappers".

Mrs. Scerri, soaked in tears, lamented that her husband should not have gone through this experience ,considering the fact that he is more or less a Niger Deltan because they were married for over 12 years and "he eats all our native foods".

She expressed worry about the condition of Mr. Scerri, considering the fact that he was not in good health shortly before the attack, stressing "he wasn’ really feeling fine and had cause to visit the clinic for check up before his kidnap".
