Nyako sworn in, charges Adamawa people

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has said that his victory at the governorship election was a clear indication that voters have gotten the message of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and thrown away the religious, ethnic and other primordial politics.

He stated this in his address after taking his oath of office as the governor at the Ribadu Square, Yola, on Wednesday.

Governor Nyako said “Adamawa State belongs to all of us, our first loyalty, therefore, is to the state and we cannot afford to use political differences, group interests or personal ambition as an excuse to toy with the future of our teeming and suffering masses, children and generation yet unborn.”

He urged the people to put the anxieties of the past few weeks behind and face the challenges of developing the state having suffered neglect and deprivations in recent past through incompetence and insincerity of purpose.

Admiral Nyako said it was a new dawn in the state and there must be a make-up for the lost time because the nullification of his election briefly interrupted the programmes of government.
