Power Probe: Reps discover fake N8.2bn project in Borno

IN its continued probe into the activities of the Obasanjo administration in the power sector, the House of Representative Committee on Power has discovered a fake project worth N8.2 billion in Borno State.

Surprised by the discovery, the state governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has said he was not aware of any power project of that magnitude said to have been awarded in his state.

Sheriff was reacting to findings announced by the probe commitee’s chairman, Hon. Tony Elumelu, following the committee’s visits to Maiduguri, when the governor was told that no project site had been discovered Borno State after mobilisation has released for different electricity projects in the state amounting to about N8.2 billion since 2006.

The governor said he was surprised about the information because if he had known about it, he would have made some follow ups during the Obasanjo era.
