Auto Crash: 11 Persons Killed

NO fewer than 11 persons were killed, while 10 others sustained serious injuries following an auto crash on Thursday night on the Gusau-Funtua road.

The accident involved a Nissan bus travelling from Funtua to Gusau, whose front tyre burst, causing it to somersault into a ditch.

Confirming the incident, Mr Iro Dalai, the Head of Operations, FRSC, Zamfara Command, said the injured persons were now receiving medical attention at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.

“There were 21 people in the vehicle. The 11 corpses have been deposited at the mortuary of the centre pending the arrival of their relations to claim them,” he said.

Danladi attributed the accident to overloading and reckless driving, and advised motorists to always obey traffic rules to minimise road traffic accidents.
