Oceanic Bank gets new executive director

CENTRAL Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Oti Ikomi as an executive director of Oceanic Bank International Plc. He brings to Oceanic Bank years of experience garnered from working in different African countries.
Prior to joining the bank, he was director and head of sales, global transactional banking, Standard Bank, Johannesburg, South Africa.
While at Standard Bank as director of sales, he led a team of over 200 people with an annul revenue budget in excess of $500 million.
Part of his innovations at Standard Bank included the creation and deployment of new products like CollectPlus for optimal receivables management of large corporates. Other products he spearheaded their development were TradePlus and PayPlus.
He also developed new training modules and personally facilitated international cash management training in four modules since 2005 for over 150 staff members driving receivables management, liquidity management and payables management.
The introduction of these innovations coupled with business creation, staff upskilling and value addition to customers informed Global Finance, New York to award Standard Bank Best Cash Management in Africa, Best Payments and Collections Bank, in 2007.
Between 2002 and 2003, he was General Manager, Global Transaction Services, Citibank, Lagos, where he was responsible for cash management and trade finance in six West African countries.
He has participated in many international banking and leadership training seminars, which include; Harvard Business School, 2004; Standard Bank South Africa Sponsorship for Senior Product Development Course; Standard Bank, April, May and September 2005
Johannesburg, SA, Rio and Sao Paulo, Brazil; PathFinder Exceptional Leadership training for the top Corporate and Investment Bank executives.
Others include SWIFT SIBOS 2006, Sydney, Australia; Standard Bank participant interacted with CBN team while in Australia and invited to be a speaker at SIBOS 2007 in Boston, focusing on Bank Payment systems; Standard Bank, Johannesburg, 2007 and Executive Management Leadership Course covering Operations, Marketing, Finance and strategy at the new Morningside Leadership Center
