World leaders to attend Clark’s 80th birthday

PromineNt people from all over the world are being expected to grace the 80th birthday celebrations of Ijaw National Leader, Chief Edwin Clark, slated for this month.

Sources close to Chief Clark told the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday that the former Commissioner for Information is elated that prominent personalities from across the world will be in Nigeria to celebrate with him.

He disclosed that though Chief Clark had wanted a low-key celebration, his political associates and other national leaders are planning a grand celebration for the Ijaw leader.

According to the source, a central planning committee, comprising prominent Nigerians, majority of them from the South- South Zone, had been put in place the celebrations billed for Abuja and his country home in Kiagbodo in Delta State.

The committee, which has Alabo Tonye Grahams-Douglas as its chairman, according to his has been meeting to perfect strategies to ensure a successful 80th birthday celebrations for Chief Clark.

Confirming the plans to celebrate Chief Clark while alive, the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Dr. Mike Oberabor, said the occasion would also be used to launch The E.K. Clark Centre for Youth Orientation and Development to be located in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
